Late 19th - early 20th century Origin: Kashmir Material: Copper with tin plating and black enamel Although intended as an eating bowl, this tour retains the form and proportions of a Dul that is a bigger household utensil traditionally used for boiling milk, setting yoghurt etc. While substantially reduced in scale, it suggests that Kashmiri metalworkers did not treat functional categories as rigid types. Instead, successful forms were adapted, refined and reinterpreted according to changing domestic needs. This dialogue between vessel forms is a recurring characteristic of Kashmiri copperwork, where tradition evolved through subtle transformation rather than abrupt innovation.
