Bowl
(ṭour) ٹور
Late 19th century Origin: Kashmir Material: Copper with tin plating and black enamel This bowl is a beautifully proportioned example of Kashmiri domestic metalware where symbolism, ornament, and function merge seamlessly. The central band features alternating floral cartouches and naturalistic motifs, including a finely rendered fish. Above, a scrolling vegetal frieze flows continuously along the flared rim, while the lower border is defined by a subtle ground of textured floral patterning. The engraving reflects the refined vocabulary of late 19th-century Kashmiri metalwork, where shawl-inspired floral forms were translated into copper with remarkable precision.
